Anjali kids in puppet mayhem for the 4th year!
More than 500 children, including students from Anjali, participated in workshops over the course of two weeks to create 10 giant parade puppets for the 5th annual Siem Reap Giant Puppet Parade on Saturday, 19th of February.
12 children's organisations joined to parade the huge, illuminated, animated puppets around Siem Reap town. Anjali, alongside Friends International produced a huge endangered Ibis accompanied by a flock of smaller ones to raise awareness about endagered local wildlife. The parade toured the old market area much to the delight of massive crowds, then proceeded along the river for the final display at the Royal Gardens. The children viewed a slideshow of the puppet workshops photographed by none other than Anjali's own Chan Sokdam, saw a fabulous display of the traditional art of Bokotar by the students of the Green Gecko Project and a cartoon produced by artists from the Phare Ponle Selpak School of Arts in Battambang.
It was a fantastic evening and the best of what has become a regular event in the Siem Reap calendar. A big thanks to all the organisers and volunteers.
