Support Our Child Sponsorship Program

By providing as little as $25 USD per month you can help us alleviate poverty.

According to the United Nations Development Program, a third of Cambodians still live below the national poverty line (US $0.61 or 2,473 riel per day). For families living in poverty, resorting to begging or child labour is often seen as the only option to bring in a small income.

"We believe that no child should be forced to beg or work. We believe that they have the right to enjoy their childhood - to learn, play, make friends and grow in a safe and happy environment. These are basic rights that no child should be denied."

At Anjali we are proud to say that all of our children have the opportunity to attend public school.

The students are registered at a local hospital and have regular dental and health checkups. We have a fully operational computer lab and our arts program is evolving to include various creative arts, from photography to drama and music.

To help us to become sustainable we are looking for sponsors for all of the students attending Anjali, to secure long-term educational and creative opportunities for them now and in the future.

Child Sponsorship options:

Nutrition Program ($25 USD per month)

The Anjali House nutrition program is one of the largest single costs that we have, and is also one of the most important. Each student is provided two meals a day (breakfast and lunch) to help ensure they receive enough calories to sustain them throughout the day. Poor nutrition is a huge problem in Cambodia, with UNICEF stating that 40% of Cambodian children show signs of moderate or severe stunting due to poor nutrition. A wealth of studies have shown that students with a poor diet, lacking important vitamins and minerals, will not perform to their potential and this can have severe implications for results at school. The provision of meals is also important for our students’ families, as it eases the pressure on their daily budget reducing the pressure on kids to work to support their families. The cost of meals is also the biggest factor restricting the intake of additional students.

By sponsoring this program you are ensuring that we can continue to provide these daily meals and guarantee that our students remain well-fed. Sign up today and contribute to the future and development of the children attending the Anjali centre.

You will receive updates from the social work team four times per year.

Education Program ($50 USD per month)

The Anjali House education program consists of on site classes in English, General Studies, Creative Arts, Living Values, Computers and Sports. Anjali also supports students' public school studies through the provision of school uniforms, books, bags and stationary. In addition we pay for the fees levied for exam papers and other resources provided by the schools and for 'extra classes', which although officially optional are essential to ensure students are able to pass exams and progress through the grades. We closely monitor student attendance and performance at both Anjali and public school through our social work team to ensure that students are progressing at school and any issues that arise can be dealt with in a timely manner.

By sponsoring this program for one student you are ensuring that we can continue to provide these classes and support our students' educational development, giving them the best possible opportunity to achieve the potential we know they can. Sign up today and contribute to the future and development of the children attending the Anjali centre.
